Well, the reality is that we’ve been in this house for about 3.5 years now, doing DIY projects, raising kids and just generally being a pretty normal family.
It was a little bit because I wanted a cleaner look, but mostly because the letters kept falling off the wall and taking paint with them and it usually just said “mg”.Those are actually Kennedy’s uncle’s initials and, believe it or not, this room just wouldn’t suit him..

So Kennedy’s full monogram was restored..Bonus: They’ve actually stayed up for three consecutive days now!I love you, hot glue.. OK, a girl can only resist this kind of cozy bed corner design mastery for so long.

It’s OK, Kennedy, I forgive you for messing up your perfectly made bed right in the middle of my photo shoot. But only cause you’re so cute!Even though it’s not at all how I envision it will be one day, I still really like my mudroom..

The one wall is all windows, so it’s nice and bright, and even though it’s pretty utilitarian right now, I seem to be able to make it into something welcoming to walk into pretty easily..
I decorate it for most seasons and holidays, but for Summer this year, it just became sort of a dumping ground. We don’t even use this dresser that much, in fact it’s going to be going upstairs into the room we’ve just started working on..
It was given to us by a friend who was moving a couple of years ago and we were just holding on to it until we got around to fixing it up..Living in this house that’s mostly kind of trashed, hasn’t been renovated for about 30-40 years in a lot of the rooms, with all these dark finishes that never seem to be really clean kind of gets to me sometimes.
Or a lot of the time..While I love rustic finishes on just about anything, I’ve been craving the feeling of a bright, clean house lately.
